* Humanity is laced with all manner of personality types. Many of the club's pilots are qualified instructors. If the flying instructor who has been bequeathed to you has a teaching style that you can't relate to, or you feel actually impedes you, there will always be alternative instructors available.

* For some people, the easiest way to learn to fly is via what is colloquially called the 'buddy system,' where an electrical lead is used to connect your transmitter to your instructor's. You fly the aircraft but if you get into trouble, your instructor activates a switch on his transmitter and instantly takes control of your aircraft. The leads are available locally for approximately $12. Not all transmitters allow this facility but most common ones do.
